Got to Keep the Yang Up!

Hi Blog,

I just wanted to say hi.

Last night I played the piano for a few minutes. It was fun but kind of annoying. I got a book of standards which I thought would be perfect, but it is not that great after all. Oh well, I gave it an effort.

I'm going to rephrase my goal "Start playing piano more" as "I will be that white guy in the Soul II Soul Keep On Movin' video," which I think might motivate me more effectively.

As for my other goals, I've been trying to do yoga more but so far when I do yoga at home it's more like stretching. I know that has value, but I wish I could do yoga at home and then feel like, "Yeah, I DID that yoga," you know? So I'll just keep working on it.

I gained some weight back, probably because of my dinners Wednesday (veggie burger and fries) and Thursday (veggie nachos), but that's ok. It's a process.

Yesterday I had an awesome acupuncture treatment. I think today I'm going to run down to Clement Street and pick up some Chinese herbs. My Spleen Qi and Kidney Yang need some help. Maybe I'll pick up some Yak Loin?

(Oh Eddie Murphy, you're so much better than all of us.) Charity :-)

  1. I have been suffering from chronic neck pain for several years now. After visits to many specialists and MRIs and multiple Rxs we have deduced that because of the lack of curvature in my neck and my TMJ disorder- yes I have cracked two custom bite guards and my teeth are ground flat where I clench them-I just have to learn to deal with it and try to handle my stress better. I have found the most amazing chiropractor who has an office right next door to my work! (She is my 3rd chiropractor.) She performs the Graston Technique on my neck and suboccipitals and it works wonders! Also, I have been taking Quercetin for 3 months now and it helps a lot with inflammation throughout my body. As for the TMJ issues- dry needling is the only thing I have found that works, but it is so intense I haven't done it in over a year. The only person I could find who would do it was a myofascial pain specialist at the UNC School of Dentistry and that was a real pain in the ass logistically and with the insurance company. I just found out from my orthopaedist that there is a Chiropractor who is also an MD who performs needling in a town about and hour south of me. And I found a local orthopaedist who performs acupuncture out of his office! Now I get to do the dance with the insurance company again. Finally, if medical doctors start embracing and practicing holistic medicine we could all get well sooner than later.
